Meet our Instructors

Lisa (Founder)

Hi, I'm Lisa, the founder of Platinum Wellness. I have worked in the Fitness & Wellbeing Industry for over 20 years, starting as Studio Coordinator & Senior Personal Trainer at Champneys in Tring before creating Platinum Fitness (now Platinum Wellness) in 2002. I've provided Personal Training in clients' homes and taught Exercise & Pilates classes throughout local communities, health clubs, and as a Trainer & Assessor for Barnfield & Central Bedfordshire College.

Having suffered from back and neck problems since childhood, I'm passionate about helping others with medical conditions and muscular pain. After discovering Pilates in 2000, I found it transformed my own health, allowing me to continue teaching and manage my problems effectively—it even aided my recovery after both C-sections. I'm qualified with both the Pilates Institute & STOTT Pilates Method, and I offer remedial massage while currently studying as a Body Mechanics Therapist at The Tyler Academy. This specialised training focuses on clinical massage techniques, body alignment, and targeted exercises to treat back pain, sports injuries, arthritis, sciatica, and various musculoskeletal conditions.

I love living, working and cycling around the Chiltern Hills, and my yoga is aimed at getting people moving their body gently. Whether you have long-term conditions such as diabetes or asthma, or simply haven't exercised for a while, Subtle Inspired Yoga offers patience, gentle poses, and deep relaxation to help in many ways. I've practiced yoga since my late teens, using it through three pregnancies, during my 30+ year NHS management career, and now enjoying it with my grandchildren.

I trained at Whitespace Studio in Stoney Stratford and have taken further training in Subtle® Yoga with Kristine Weber—a style using slow, breath-infused movement to enable the body's natural healing wisdom. I also love holding restorative yoga and yoga nidra sessions to improve sleep quality. Inspired by the beautiful English countryside, I enjoy outdoor yoga sessions where the ceiling is the sky and you can hear nature close by. After retiring from the NHS and retraining as a yoga teacher, I find it incredibly rewarding to work directly with people, helping them move more freely, find balance, and truly relax. I teach chair yoga and gentle relaxation yoga on Wednesday afternoons.

Christine (Tai Chi)

Before opening my own dance and gymnastic schools, I was a professional dancer who worked as a gym instructor and personal trainer in London when not performing. My extensive background in movement and fitness has given me a deep understanding of how exercise can transform body and mind. Lockdown suddenly reignited my passion for fitness, leading me to rediscover the incredible power of high-intensity training and its ability to make people feel truly alive.

The results I've achieved personally from doing HIIT classes over the past eight months have been nothing short of amazing—rewarding both physically and mentally. This experience inspired me to bring that same energy and transformation to others through my new HIIT classes, built around my motto of the 3 Fs: Get FITTER, Have FUN, and Feel FABULOUS. Whether you're a complete beginner taking your first steps into fitness or a super athlete looking for a new challenge, I can adapt any of my exercises to suit your individual level of ability. My goal is to create an inclusive, energising environment where everyone can experience that incredible feeling of being fully alive through movement.

Introducing tai chi mindful movement—a health-based, low impact movement class designed to nurture both body and mind. Each session consists of easy-to-follow moves that are ideal for beginners, creating an accessible entry point into this ancient practice. The gentle, flowing movements focus on improving your overall wellbeing while being kind to your joints and muscles, making it suitable for people of all fitness levels and ages.

Over the six-week course, you will learn 10 highly effective tai chi-based moves that will significantly improve your flexibility and balance while simultaneously de-stressing your mind and body. This comprehensive program allows you to gradually build your skills and confidence, experiencing the profound benefits of mindful movement at your own pace. Christine will be running these transformative tai chi classes from the studio, offering a peaceful sanctuary where you can disconnect from daily pressures and reconnect with your inner calm through gentle, purposeful movement.

Becky (Yoga)

I've practiced yoga since my late teens and over the years have embraced many different styles and disciplines, including pre and post natal yoga after the birth of each of my children. As an eternal yoga student, I find constant inspiration through exploration in my own practice as well as ongoing study and training. The ancient wisdom and compassionate psychology of yoga serves as the perfect antidote to our fast-paced modern world, offering timeless tools for navigating contemporary challenges with greater ease and awareness.

My classes provide the precious time and space to press the pause button, come into the present moment, and begin to explore and reconnect with our bodies. I take a narrative approach to teaching, weaving thought-provoking concepts and philosophies into slow-flowing creative sequences that are carefully designed to mobilize and release tension whilst building strength and balance. Each session offers a nurturing and nourishing experience for mind, body and soul, looking to restore a sense of calm and equilibrium in your daily life. I teach on Tuesday afternoons and Friday evenings, creating a sanctuary where you can step away from life's demands and return to yourself.
